Arvada West in search of new head softball coach

ARVADA — The Wildcats are looking for a new leader.

Arvada West is looking for a new head softball coach after Chalee McDougal took an administrative position with Jeffco schools.

Those interested in the position can contact A-West Athletic Director Steve Anderson at

“We are looking for someone to help take us to the next level and help build on the great work that coach McDougal did,” Anderson said. “She will be missed as her impact on this year’s program was phenomenal.”

But this isn’t a project that needs to be rebuilt. McDougal helped create a juggernaut in 5A Jeffco in just one season.

McDougal took over a team that went 7-11-1 in 2011 turned them into a team that went 18-4, 7-1, tying Dakota Ridge with 5A Jeffco’s best league record.

The Wildcats closed out their season winning 13 of 14 games and went into the state tournament as a No. 5 seed.
