Longtime resident, business owner Marriott announces candidacy

Longtime Arvada resident John Marriott has announced his candidacy for the District 3 seat on Arvada City Council.

Marriott is a Colorado native who grew up in Arvada.

He attended Sierra Elementary and Oberon Junior High and graduated from Pomona High School in 1981.

He currently lives in Olde Town Arvada with his wife, Angie, and two children, Jack and Sarah Jane.

Marriott serves as the chairman of the Arvada Board of Adjustment, the Wheat Ridge Business District and the Colorado State Trails Committee, and as a board member of the Clear Creek Water and Sanitation District.

In the past, Marriott has served on the Arvada Gold Line Advisory Committee, Arvada International Property Maintenance Code task force and the Wheat Ridge Building Code task force.

He has owned and operated Larson’s Ski and Sport, 4715 Kipling St., a local outdoor retail store and ski shop, since 1984.

Arvada City Council District 3 includes the area from Olde Wadsworth Boulevard west to War Road and the southern city limits near I-70 to W. 68th Avenue.
