Celebrating its one-year anniversary, the Arvada Dragonfly, Olde Town's boutique lodging hub, offers residents a distinctive home-like stay for visitors.
“I want this to be what people want,” said Beth Chandler, owner of the Dragonfly. “I've created something new, and there's more that I get to be able to create.”
Originally from Atlanta, Chandler's southern roots drew her to a love of Victorian houses and hospitality.
That combination has revealed itself through her boutique lodging business in Olde Town, the Arvada Dragonfly.
“I love connection, and I love accommodation,” she said, while sitting in the living room of one of her two apartment stays. “This is my Victorian house by the water. And it's easy to rent, unique and a great location.”
Located in a yellow Victorian house at 5900 Olde Wadsworth Blvd., the Dragonfly offers customers two apartments to choose from for their stay. A snug one bedroom, The Pearl, is on the top level near the main residence. Another spacious two bedroom, The Garden, is on the lower level of the home.
Decorated to remind visitors of their homes, the apartments give guests a relaxed personalized experience. Chandler, who lives on site, is available to help guests with their needs and is working to build community connections with Arvada businesses to ensure they have an enjoyable time.
Currently a two-unit facility, Chandler said she would like to turn the whole house into a bed and breakfast. With the capability to add two more units and a caretaker's apartment on the property, she said this dream is one that will stay for the long-term.
“My fantasy is to have a wedding party in here,” she said. “To be able to rent the whole house and have it be joyous.”
“This is a gorgeous property, located close to old town Arvada, with many amenities and lovely, lovely location,” Sara LeRoy-Toren, a guest from Nebraska who's visited twice this year, wrote in her most recent review. “We had everything we could possibly want — a great bed, a beautiful living room, a lovely well-appointed kitchen. The best property we have rented, and we've had some great ones.”
“For a couple, The Pearl is perfect. We loved the bright windows on the main level, the babbling brook beside the house, the rocking chairs out front and everything about it. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom is beautiful,” Peter Wright, a guest from Texas wrote in his review of his stay. “We will definitely be returning to The Pearl in the near future.”
