Adelante Jeffco, a network of Spanish speaking families and local agencies, announced last week that the network will begin operating under a new name and will be known as Conectando, effective immediately.
The name change was a result of the group’s rapid growth and a need to distinguish the network from another organization with a similar name, according to an announcement statement.
The organization continues to operate under the parent nonprofit status of the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition (CSPC).
“When we started this project we picked Adelante to reflect our intention, however, this name was not selected by our community or our leaders.” said Paulina Erices, co-founder of Conectado. “We also learned that another organization had that name already and we wanted to be respectful of their work. We are proud that our members embraced the idea of seeking a name that reflects who we are and what we do. Conectando resonates with us because we connect people with each other during difficult times, like now, and also during times of celebration. Conectando also refers to our work bridging community with the formal structures and spaces of decision making. We connect people with opportunities for themselves and for their whole community.
“At the end, when we are connected we are so much more powerful!” Erices added.
