Shoppers in Olde Town Arvada on Nov. 27 were treated to special promotions and holiday cheer, as the city celebrated local businesses following a proclamation made at the Nov. 15 city council meeting.
Small Business Saturday aimed to encourage shoppers to shop small this holiday season amid promotions such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which typically highlight larger retailers.
To help with the effort, Hunter Bay Coffee Roasters provided free coffee to those who came to the historic district and School House Kitchen and Libations gave away 100 free breakfast tacos starting at 10:30 a.m.
Later on in the day, Olde Town hosted its first-ever Holiday Makers Market, which saw local makers and artists display their wares in Olde Town Square. The market will run each weekend through Dec. 19 from 4-8 p.m. on Fridays and 11-6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sunday.
At 5 p.m. on Nov. 27, businesses in Olde Town turned on their holiday lights in preparation for the lighting of the Olde Town Christmas Tree, which commenced at 6 p.m.
