The job of turning a Candelas taproom and its surrounding into a monthly farmers market has been a long time coming, according to the event’s organizers.
The Candelas neighborhood hosted its first-ever farmers market on June 27 from 1-5 p.m. at Resolute Brewing Tap and Cellar located at 18148 West 92nd Lane, Arvada. The event is planned to be a monthly happening slated for the last Sunday of each month from June to Sept., with Oct. and Nov. events dependent on weather.
The farmers market will feature food, crafts and coffee from local vendors including the Bluegrass Lounge, Great Harvest Bread Co., Oso Rojo Hot Sauce, Incredible Vinyl, On Board Denver, Golden Poultry and Meats, and more. Beer will also be available for purchase at Resolute Brewing. Puzzles, crafts and board games will be available for attendees of all ages.
Jonny Eves, Resolute’s taproom manager, has led the effort to bring a farmer market to Candelas, going through the City’s permitting process and working with the Arvada Fire Protection District to determine the most optimal layout for safety and accessibility.
Eves said he was prompted to start the farmers market by feedback he’d received from patrons of Resolute.
“Since I started working (at Resolute Brewing’s Tap and Cellar),” said Eves, “I knew I wanted to implement a farmers market, but obviously the pandemic ended up happening and it kind of put a pin in things. It opened up fairly recently, I knew it was time to tackle that task and offer the Candelas community something they’ve been asking for.
“They communicated to me that they would love to a walk right up to a local farmers market,” Eves continued, “versus going to Olde Town’s or Golden’s, so that was the steppingstone the idea came to fruition out of.”
Eves added that the City of Arvada website and the AFPD made the logistical planning process of the farmer’s market a manageable endeavor.
“I’ve never done anything to this extent.,” said Eves. “Sometimes it could certainly be a daunting task, but it wasn’t; it was completely seamless and the Fire Marshall from the AFPD helped me along the way. Arvada has a really intuitive page where they provide feedback on anything you submit, so they were pretty responsive. I definitely appreciated the communal sense of that.”
The Candelas Farmers Market is slated for the last Sunday of the month through summer; July 25, Aug. 29, Sept. 26 with Oct. and Nov. dates dependent on weather. Each farmer’s market will be held between 1-5 p.m.
