Campaign Website:

Why are you seeking this office?

I am seeking re-election to the Arvada City Council to insure that everyone gets a chance to experience the Arvada that I grew up in. A safe low crime city with exceptional parks and open spaces. A city where our infrastructure allows a vibrant economic climate where everyone can succeed.

What makes you the best person for the job?

Since my first election in 2013 I have been engaged, prepared and enthusiastic about making sure our city functions at a very high level. I will keep striving to make Arvada the best place in the metro area.

What are your top three priorities if elected?

My top three priorities are to address increasing crime and homelessness. Make road maintenance and traffic mitigation our immediate priority, and work to make sure our economic climate works for all businesses and residents.

Development on the western end of the city has been contentious. What's your approach to managing the area?

I will continue to engage all residents on development issues large and small, as well as faithfully rely on our comprehensive plan and Land Development code to have a fair environment where excellent development is welcomed and inappropriate or out of scale development is denied.

Now that the city's trash hauling system is up and running, what is your view of how it has worked out?

The fact that nearly 40% of residents and almost all HOA's opted out shows the Arvada single hauler program has some large problems. I will continue to work to eliminate the opt out fee in the program to make it perform better and be a more fair option.

District 3, Arvada, Election 2021, John Marriott
