City lights fireworks on rainy Fourth of July

Posted

Coloradans from around the area came together at the Stenger Sports Complex, 11200 W. 58th Ave., to celebrate the Fourth of July with the city of Arvada. The city held a firework show beginning at nine p.m., with many gathering at the complex hours before.

Although the stormy weather caused technical difficulties, prompting the city to end the show early, the city said, fireworks launched despite the stormy weather. The city hoped residents would attend the show instead of lighting their own fireworks, which is illegal in Arvada. Police asked neighbors to report any illegal fireworks.

“Thanks to everyone who helped celebrate July Fourth,” the city said on Twitter. “We'll hope for better conditions next year.”
