City of Brighton needs lifeguards ... and fast

Posted

Those interested in summer jobs don’t have to look too far in the city of Brighton.

Its recreation department needs lifeguards for both the indoor recreation center and the Brighton Family Oasis Aquatic Park. The total number of hires amounts to 55, according to a press release – 35 more lifeguards and 20 swim instructors.

“These positions need to be filled in order to offer the city’s full lineup of operational hours and programming at both facilities,” the press release said. “Without the increase in staffing, there is a possibility of rolling closures at both facilities that could impact what pools and amenities are available each day, as well as cancellations of swim lesson programming.”

To apply, visit https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/brightonco?keywords=lifeguard. You have to be at least 15 years old to be a lifeguard. Pay starts at $15 per hour. The pay rate for lifeguard/swim instructors (must be at least 16 years of age) starts at $15.75 per hour. Candidates who work at the recreation center or at Oasis, the city offers free lifeguard certification and swim instructor training.

Contact Sara Heisdorffer, recreation supervisor of aquatics, at sheisdorffer@brightonco.gov or at 303-655-2212.
