The spirit of Día de los Muertos came to life in the 40 West Arts District on Nov. 1. The arts district celebrated the holiday as it coincided with first Fridays, an event where galleries and creative businesses are open to the public every first Friday of the month. Día de los Muertos is held in indigenous cultures in Mexico to celebrate life after death. The 40 West Arts District’s celebration had art honoring the holiday, performances, food and more.
