Dolly Day Denver is coming January 26, 2020, to the Oriental Theater!

Posted by

The inaugural Dolly Day Denver will be Sunday, January 26, 2020, at The Oriental Theater, and will include activities for all ages and abilities. Attendees will shake a leg as they learn to line dance to Dolly’s greatest hits. Drag Queen Story Hour will entertain and delight children and parents alike, and aligns with the goals of Imagination Library by helping promote a love of literature and reading from an early age. Then, it’s time to break out the record books as the world's largest gathering of Dolly look-alikes will be submitting to The Guinness Book of World Records. Finally, the event will cap off in the evening with a Dolly-themed vaudeville variety show for the adults!

The Imagination Library of Denver seeks to increase access to age-appropriate books and promote kindergarten readiness by providing books to children in the Denver area, from birth until age 5, no matter their families income. While currently serving children in zip codes 80205, 80211 and 80220 the goal is to increase their service to the entire Denver area.

To date, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has given more than 123 million books to children in five countries, including the US.

“We are excited to be the beneficiary of the inaugural Dolly Day Denver! Imagination Library of Denver depends on private donations to ensure more books reach more children. Dedicated literacy champions remind us that it takes a community to create a level playing field. What better way to celebrate Dolly Parton than by holding a fundraiser to benefit our local literacy program!” ~Sara Randall
