Arvada residents are one step closer to a Double-Double and some Animal Style fries.
The proposed In-N-Out Burger location is moving into the next stages of planning in July, and will be the seventh restaurant to open in Colorado.
The location for the popular California burger joint is expected to sit off of the southeast corner of Wadsworth Boulevard and 52nd Avenue in the Arvada Marketplace Shopping Center.
In-N-Out Burger, represented by Galloway — who provides architectural, engineering and survey services — presented zoning and code modifications requests in the City of Arvada’s Planning Commission’s June 7 meeting to advance the next steps to open the next Colorado branch.
The request included modifications to City codes related to drive-thru lanes, the frontage zone and windows.
Design team experts from In-N-Out Burger went before the planning commission to quell concerns over the possible high traffic volume that may be an impact when the location opens. The previously debut branch locations boasted hour waits and long lines in Colorado.
“Their team spoke on all the lessons that they’ve learned as they’ve opened businesses and how they built that into the design and the flow of traffic,” said Michael Griffith, the chair of the City of Arvada Planning Commission.
Other concerns for the restaurant included access for pedestrians, since it will be built on a corner. Griffith said that the City wants to make sure that they want to encourage a walkable Arvada for its residents.
“We felt that the information that we were given, suggested that they had come up with some good ways to mitigate that issue,” Griffith said. “So traffic was a concern and we approved it, but we asked that it continues to be an area of focus.”
The next step in the process for the planning committee will be a public meeting which will present an opportunity for residents to voice any support or discourse. A date for the meeting has not been made public yet by the City.
