The Colorado First Judicial District's Critical Incident Response Team investigation into the June 21 Olde Town Arvada shooting has been completed, First Judicial District Public Information Officer Michael Teague announced in a Sept. 9 press release.
The findings of the investigation — which centered around the officer involved shooting of Good Samaritan Johnny Hurley of Golden — have not been released at this time.
District Attorney Alexis King and a team of prosecutors will now conduct a review of the investigating and determine whether or not charges will be filed against the officer. An Arvada Police officer is confirmed to have shot Hurley during the incident and was placed on leave shortly thereafter.
No APD officers were involved in conducting the CIRT investigation. The investigation was led by the Jefferson County Sheriff's office, according to the release. APD is conducting the investigation into the death of Officer Gordon Beesley, who was killed by gunman Ronald Troyke. Troyke was killed by Hurley in the shooting.
“We’re grateful to be moving forward so the family and community can have answers while at the same time we understand that a thorough review takes time,” said APD Public Information Officer Dave Snelling.
The DA's office declined to make any further statements.
