Lakewood Police say they found two men with apparent gunshot wounds after officers responded to an incident in the 5400 block of the 6th Avenue Frontage Road.

On Aug. 9 at 10:37 p.m., police received several 911 calls regarding shots fired in the 5400 block of the 6th Avenue Frontage Road, according to a release from Lakewood Police. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the two men with apparent gunshot wounds, and they were later taken to a hospital in critical condition. Officers on scene learned there were around 10 to 15 people at a house party at an apartment complex when a dark colored SUV drove by and fired gunshots into a group of people who were standing outside.

Earlier that day, a shooting in Denver left nine residents injured in another apparent drive-by shooting at a park in the Valverde neighborhood, the Denver Post reported. Lakewood Police say it is too early in the investigation to determine if the two shootings are related.

The Lakewood Police Department said further details were not immediately available.
