I’d like to thank the state legislature for passing the Expand Child Care Expenses Income Tax Credit bill, HB18-1208, which will make child care more affordable for more families across the state.
As a mother and educator, I know child care is an essential part of a child’s education during their first five years of life. Unfortunately, a high-quality child care environment is often incredibly expensive and out of reach for many low- and middle-income families here in Colorado. In fact, child care for a 4-year-old in Colorado costs $11,229 annually – or $936 each month, according to Child Care Aware.
I testified before the state Senate Finance Committee, not that this bill is not only an investment in children and families, but our state’s economy because it will make it easier for parents to enter or remain in the workforce.
Please join me in thanking our state’s elected leaders for this vital legislation and urge them to do even more for working families next year.
