Letter to the editor: Something stinks with trash plan

People of Arvada, please wake up and smell the foul deal that some members of the Arvada City Council are attempting to force on us, without giving us the chance to vote. We are talking about the new trash hauling proposal. Some members of this Arvada City Council think that it is okay to mandate a trashing hauling service, which for some people will mean a 40% increase in monthly trash bills and a decrease in trash services. This is too big of an issue for just a few people to decide. You should have the right to choose your trash hauling business and we should be supporting the small business, with the economy the way that it is right now.

Republic is not even a Colorado company. What happened to supporting Colorado owned and operated businesses? It makes us wonder if this is actually ethical or if there is conflict of interest? Is someone getting a kickback from this deal? The deal is being pushed through too fast.

Please people of Arvada, make sure that your voice is heard and please contact the Arvada City Council and tell them that this is not a good idea or a fair one. It is necessary that we vote on this!

G & Diane Dunlap ,
Arvada
