December 5 - A Mile High Community Band Fall Concert will be in the multipurpose room at Edgewater Plaza, 2250 Eaton St, Edgewater, CO 80214. Please park in the lot north of the building or on the street because parking in the south lot is for their residents and guests only, even handicapped parking. Time: 6:30 pm - The Jazz Combo, Big Jazz Band and Concert (symphonic) Band will perform.
The Jazz Combo will play A Night in Tunisia by Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Paparelli; as well as two pieces arranged by Jazz Combo members: Perdido by Juan Tizal, arr. by Bruce Kruger and The Chicken by Pee Wee Ellis, transcribed and arr. by Ken Tomlinson.
The Jazz Band will perform Switch in Time by Sammy Nestico, Decoupage by Hank Levy, Begin the Beguine by Cole Porter/Tr. Jeff Hest, and Flight of the Foo Birds by Count Basie.
The Concert Band will perform North Sea Overture by Ralph Hermann, The Denver Post March (1905) by Fred Jewell/arr. Daniel Leavitt, Beguine for Band by Glenn Osser and Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson.
Our mission is to bring high quality concert and jazz music and music education to a diverse population in the Denver metropolitan area, including performance experience and music education for band members.
Established in 1937 as the Denver Junior Police Band, and known since 2001 as the Mile High Community Band, we have a heritage of creating high-quality musical experiences including instruction and performance opportunities for musicians in the community, young and old, from intermediate to advanced avocational and professional players.
We serve as the Music Ensemble for Red Rocks Community College.
If you currently play, or have played an instrument in the past, and wish to utilize and improve your skill in a fun community-based organization, the Mile High Community Band is for you. We make all possible accommodations for those with limited income.
We encourage families to join, with parents and children learning and playing together. If your child's music education program at public school has been drastically reduced or cut all together, consider the Mile High Community Band.
The Mile High Community Band is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tax exempt status ID #84-1282201, held since September, 1995.
