Mark Philip Bromley

781 W. 118th Ave. Northglenn

Background: I was raised in Northglenn and am celebrating my 50 years as a long-term Northglenn resident.

What makes me qualified to be the Mayor of Northglenn is an extensive amount of leadership and knowledge from Western State University and Theta Chi Fraternity and of government management from my service in the US Navy, in Homeland Security and in construction and civic responsibility in other cities I have visited world-wide and in the states.

Please describe your leadership style in three words.

Sagacious, Resolute, Empowering.

Describe the skills that make you the best candidate for the job.

I have multiple decades of managerial, civilian and government hands-on leadership and administration for projects of the U.S. Navy on aircraft carriers and ship yards. That could range over hundreds of millions of dollars in costs for flight operations.

I have been responsible for enforcing U.S. and foreign political policies in interactions with domestic and foreign law enforcement and government officials and with multiple U.S. government municipalities boards and commissions and FEMA trained Emergency Management.

Please list your top three priorities if elected.

To repair the integrity of the Northglenn council that has eroded away into a “toxic,” environment and restore the council to its former glory. To overhaul and review current activities in the city and ensure that the right path and correct ethical and moral compass is restored. To place Northglenn first and ensure that the city is being designed and maintained as the Northglenn Charter intended.

Discuss economic growth in your community. How can you balance economic opportunity with current residents' desire to preserve their way of life?

The Charter and original intentions of the City of Northglenn from my 50 years living in Northglenn have always been of family and friends. We can make this city one of quality. With a focus on quality the economy will always continue to get better as we move into a better and brighter future. Economic opportunity comes to us in the fact we can improve and upgrade services to what the citizens want and demand.

What is the city's role in guiding redevelopment for areas in need of repair? Where would you target the city's redevelopment efforts and dollars?

Residents I have spoken with door-to-door mention street safety as their primary concern. I was shocked the council and city didn't take my complaints about a crosswalk seriously until a motorcyclist got hit. This is wrong. Hazards, when identified, need to be looked into and resolved quickly. It's like the city picked the “wait until someone dies” attitude. If street are the problem, then redevelop the streets. Be proactive not reactive.

Please describe your leadership style in three words.

Integrity. Service. Compassion.

Describe the skills that make you the best candidate for the job.

I bring education and experience in leadership to the role of Mayor of Northglenn. I have the skills to facilitate productive and respectful discussions. I am dependable, responsible and honest. I believe in authentic collaboration; listening to all stakeholders and valuing every opinion. I believe in doing the right thing; even when it's the hard thing.

Please list your top three priorities if elected.

I advocate for a clean, safe and healthy environment for all residents of Northglenn.

I am focused on maintaining a sustainable infrastructure for generations to come.

I support the revitalization of the Northglenn Marketplace and am excited to break ground on a new Recreation Center, Senior Center and Theater. Both the Civic Center development and the Karl's Farm development provide new opportunities for growth and sustainability in our city.

Discuss economic growth in your community. How can you balance economic opportunity with current residents' desire to preserve their way of life?

Northglenn is a landlocked city with small areas of opportunity for economic growth. We owe it to residents to make the best decisions as we work with businesses to redevelop the Northglenn Marketplace. Increased sales taxes benefit our residents through increased access to exciting programming. We must use the land we have to the best of our ability in order to generate funds that will ultimately benefit all of our residents.

What is the city's role in guiding redevelopment for areas in need of repair? Where would you target the city's redevelopment efforts and dollars?

Northglenn Urban Renewal Authority does a great job of prioritizing redevelopment areas in our city. NURA is a great partner to our council and city staff and we will continue to work together to ensure that we are balancing redevelopment across the city. NURA, city council and the city staff work hard to gather resident input that guides our prioritization process for redevelopment efforts.
