Kids and teens who want to push themselves are invited to participate in the Kids Obstacle Challenge, a race series for ages 5-16.

The 1.5- to 2-mile challenge, which includes 13-15 obstacles, takes place July 27-28 at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Ave., Arvada. Parents or legal guardians are allowed to complete the course for free in the family wave, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The competitive wave for ages 10-16 begins at 8:30 a.m., and participants can win Razor scooters and more.

The obstacles include rock walls, army crawling through mud pits, rope swinging over water, scaling up rugged cargo nets and more.

Registration is required. Cost for the family wave is $52 per person in advance, or $60 on the day of the race, if space is available. Cost for the competitive wave is $59 per person. Day-of admission is not allowed in the competitive wave.

Participants must arrive an hour before their wave time.
