Last week the Jefferson County Library Foundation announced it will partner with Cause Brokers to help raise money for the libraries.
Kris Lecciso and Troy Weiman, representative of Cause Brokers, approached Natalie Martinez, the foundation’s executive director, more than a year ago with a proposal to work together. The two groups have crafted a marketing plan.
“Their enthusiasm and excitement is so infectious,” Martinez said.
Cause Brokers is a nonprofit established to help organizations and causes that benefit communities make a few bucks when houses are bought and sold. The company matches home buyers and sellers, working to do so within 24 hours of being contacted. When the person who contact them buys or sells a home, a check for half a percent of the value is donated to a cause of the buyer or seller’s choosing.
That means then when a home is sold for $200,000, Cause Brokers would donate $1,000.
“The real estate market offers an incredible opportunity for fundraising,” Troy Wieman, co-founder of Cause Brokers, said in a press release.
“Our service represents the easiest and most significant way for people to give to a good cause.”
Martinez said the foundation is looking at the 2013 budget now to figure out where best to spend the money raised. Some of the money will go to help fund the Traveling Children’s Library and Summer Reading Club, she said.
The foundation supports the Jefferson County Public Library with a mission to improve and enrich the lives of Jeffco residents.
