New York Times best-selling author, underwater explorer and the man who established the automobile collection on display at Arvada's Cussler Museum, Clive Cussler, passed away at age 88 on Feb. 24, 2020.
The adventure novelist published more than six dozen books over the course of his literary career and sold more than 100 million copies of his books, Cussler's obituary says. His books have been named to the New York Times best-seller list more than 20 times.
Additionally, Cussler himself was an adventurer who led underwater expeditions, including an expedition that discovered the remains of a Confederate Civil War ship in the Mississippi River, the obituary states.
Cussler's collection of more than 100 cars, from a time period between 1906 and 1965, is on display at the Cussler Museum, 14959 W. 69th Ave. The museum is open May through September.
“Clive's memory will live on through his captivating adventure novels,” said a statement from the museum, “and the astonishing collection of classic cars displayed here at the Cussler Museum.”
