Why are you seeking this office?

I believe all of Arvada’s hard working families deserve the right to find housing, employment, education, and their future in our city. I also believe it is our responsibility to be proactive as we invest in the future of Arvada. I chose to make Arvada my home because of the sense of community, and I will work hard to maintain and expand our welcoming presence in the region.

What makes you the best person for the job?

My entire career, and much of my personal life, is dedicated to the service of others. I have worked for nonprofits for the past 15 years. Everyday, I build relationships between individuals, business partners, and civic leaders. I know how to listen to diverse communities and really hear what their needs are. People want to be heard and want to see their values represented accurately. I will bring service-based leadership to Arvada City Council.

What are your top three priorities if elected?

We know the status quo isn’t working for all residents. Attainable housing is a wide-spread issue impacting many families who want to make Arvada their forever home. Mental health issues that we see everyday also present a complex challenge to our community. And ensuring we have supportive infrastructure to maintain our parks and green spaces in the future is a priority. Residents want proactive, responsive leadership to produce solutions to these challenges and more.

Development on the western end of the city has been contentious. What's your approach to managing the area?

I firmly believe residents should be at the forefront of all decisions being made in Arvada. As a representative on City Council, I will work with residents to elevate their voices. Developing a broad and diverse community advisory commission or committee to assist in the early stages of all development planning in Arvada would support more resident led decisions being made from the beginning of projects.

Now that the city's trash hauling system is up and running, what is your view of how it has worked out?

Every new system or change management process will yield opportunities for improvement. I am open to working with residents to listen to their needs and find solutions for any challenges they are facing.
